RV monitoring hardware, compared on published specifications

Tire pressure, shore power, water pressure, tank levels, battery state. The equipment that watches an RV’s systems is bought on numbers that manufacturers publish and almost nobody puts side by side. We collect those numbers across whole categories, check them, and publish the distribution — including the categories where the data does not support a comparison at all.

What this site is

We do not own an RV, we do not install this equipment, and we do not test it. What we do is read manufacturer specifications at scale, convert them into consistent units, and show you where a category actually sits so you can place a specific product against it.

There are no rankings here, no star ratings, no prices and no “best of” lists. A comparison page publishes quartiles — the 25th percentile, the median, the 75th — because a leaderboard sorts for extreme values and in retail specification data the extreme values are frequently errors.

Where the numbers hold up, and where they do not

We checked 725 extracted values across 450 products against the units their source text actually carried. Three of eight categories cleared both our gates — enough coverage to describe a category, and enough unit consistency to trust it.

Surge Protectors & EMS

The best-documented category on the site. Amperage on 98% of listings, joule ratings on 72%. The 30 A / 50 A split filters the market before any comparison starts, and the surge-versus-EMS distinction matters more than either number.

Tire Pressure Monitors

Sensor count and rated pressure ceiling, both read out of product titles because Amazon publishes neither as a structured field. Match the sensor count to your wheel positions and the ceiling to your tire placard.

Water Pressure Regulators

Rated pressure, connection size and ports. The pressure column mixes delivered output with body rating — two different quantities under one label — and the page explains how to tell which you are reading.

The categories we cover without comparing

Five categories did not clear the gates, and rather than publish a thin table implying coverage the data cannot support, their pages say so and explain what is missing.

Battery Monitors

Shunt rating, voltage range and Bluetooth support are unpublished. Weight alone clears the gate, which is not a buying signal.

Tank Monitors

Zero fields clear both gates across 48 products — the weakest category anywhere in our data, and doubling the sample did not help. The page explains why, and what to look for instead.

Leveling Systems

Load capacity is the figure that decides whether a block is safe under a given rig, and it is not published as a structured attribute.

The limit that shapes every page here

Two of these categories sit directly on hazards. Shore power is an electrical service capable of starting a fire; tire pressure is a structural question at highway speed. We publish what manufacturers state and nothing more. We do not tell you what your rig’s electrical service can carry, we do not confirm that a device is adequate protection for your situation, and a monitor that reports a problem has done its job even when the problem still causes damage. Your rig’s documentation and a licensed installer are the authority.

How to use this

  1. Start with the hub for the category you are shopping.
  2. Read the compatibility facts first — amperage for shore power, wheel count and placarded pressure for TPMS, service type for plumbing. These eliminate products rather than rank them.
  3. Then open the comparison page and see where a candidate falls in the distribution.
  4. Verify anything decision-critical against the manufacturer’s own page. Our figures are a snapshot and each page carries its date.
